Hey friends! Is Summer here yet? (this is a friend of ACCESS asking by the way)
I’M TOTALLY NOT EVEN KIDDING, I AM HANGING OUT FOR THE DAYS TO GET LONGER.
I know I shouldn’t disparage the season of the cold, what with Summer Bodies being built in winter and all. But what about those people that are late starters, the ones that don’t so much like doing things in the cold, the ones who think Mumma Bear did it right when she rugged up and slept all winter??
I mean, some of us are just warm weather creatures! We blossom with a little heat on our wings, we take flight when the flowers are in bloom and the sweet smell of grass takes over from the gloom of the rain.
Should we be left behind??
Of course not!!
You see, even us late bloomers can do more than just lay by the pool like a champ! We still want to get some shape to our bootays, and some ‘fitness’ in our Insta-feeds. We want to look like we are having fun, and what’s more we want to have fun while we are looking like we are having fun.
So imagine the delicious surprise when Coach Aidan came calling (no, it wasn’t a cupcake, because Aidan hasn’t figured out that winter and cupcakes and hibernating go together), and told me that they are going to be doing some bootcamp styles stuff, in the outdoors, in the Spring!!
Wow, the last two are two of my favourite things, the first one I’m as excited as hell to have a crack at (I did not let him in on that little fact while he was visiting though). And oh my god, that I want to do this thing is now on record!
But first things first, while I was getting over the fact Aidan didn’t bring me cupcakes, and hiding I was in fact a little eager to do the spring training thing, he started bleating on about the benefits of training in the warm . . . I only semi-listened, he did after all have to know I was upset with him about the cupcake thing. So the bits that I caught were:
- Your body warms up quicker (see knew this winter time malarkey was just silly, all that time wasted warming up!)
- You are less injury prone (bonus for a newbie that has essentially couch surfed all winter)
- New environments and locations with great views (Im assuming he didn’t mean views of the human kind, but a girl can cast her eye away from the bootcampers and look further afield can’t she, we do like a bit of multi-tasking)
- Vitamin D (my kind of drug, pffft, I know it’s not actually a drug!)
- Happy endorphins and stuff
- Aaaand, he promised to play the music that I like
So, now that you have some of the benefits and I have gone and made it public record that I am going to try this thing, you should too! Not in shall we get together for drinks now and get to know each other kind of way (that would be weird), just in a ‘tell your best mate so they can help you commit’ kinda way!
I know there are more of you out there who are aiming to hit spring with a roar, and I will probably have gotten over the cupcake thing by then, but I am more than happy for you to back me up on winter time visiting etiquette with Coach Aidan!
