Huge congrats to our May Athlete of the Month Caris Watts! Caris has been at Access a while now and has always had consistency with her training. It’s been awesome watching Caris get stronger and fitter over the years, and hit some new achievements like box jumps and killing her running time recently. Caris always has a can do attitude, we have supported Caris at a few competitions now, and this strong lady won the best leader board score in our Look Good Naked Challenges. Lets get to know more about Caris here:
•Name: Caris Watts
• Age: 27
• Occupation: Assistant Accountant
• How long have you been at CrossFit Access? Almost 2 years
• What do you enjoy doing outside of CrossFit? Playing tennis & spending time with family & friends.
• What is your favourite and least favourite movements or WODs? Favourite – Deadlifts, least favourite – running.
• What your biggest achievement so far? Running 1km without stopping twice in the same WOD.
• What are your future goals? Pull-ups & entering an intermediate comp.
• Tell us something we don’t know about you. I am secretly scared of the dark- EEK! haha
• Who’s your box buddy? Tash & Donna
• Why did you start CrossFit ? I started Crossfit because Tash wanted someone to go with her to the trial, it was something I had wanted to try for ages but never had the courage. I had been doing personal training for a year or two before but was looking for something new to help me with my weight loss & to improve my overall fitness for all the tennis I play. If I hadn’t have started my Crossfit journey, I highly doubt I would be able to play Division 1 tennis against state & interstate players that I play today.
• What do you love about CrossFit Access? The thing I love the most about Crossfit Access are the people & coaches, it’s like having an extra big, loud & fun family. Everyone is so friendly, welcoming & supportive no matter how long you have been there & they are always here to cheer you on even if you are the last to finish. The coaches at Access are some of the best, they know exactly when you need that extra push & always find a way to make you smile even if you have had the worst day ever.
• Any advice for anyone just starting their CrossFit journey? My advice for anyone starting their Crossfit journey is to bite the bullet, sign up & do it! Crossfit is designed for all fitness levels & ages as everything can be scaled so there is nothing to be scared of. All of the strongest Crossfit athletes had to start from somewhere & you never know how far you could go – the Crossfit Games could be waiting for you.
