Huge congrats to Tara our athlete of the month in December! Tara is one of the inspiring Mums we have training at Access! It’s been awesome to watch Tara’s consistency and determination with her CrossFit over the last few months despite a few setbacks, and her relentless commitment to training. This year Tara has really made a commitment with eating clean and keeping training consistent. Tara is an awesome role model to her children, who also train at the gym in our teens class. We love having Taras bubbly vibe around the gym and cant wait to see what this cool Mum achieves this year!
Let’s get to know more about this inspiring athlete:
Name: Tara McCafferty
Occupation: Bootcamp and group fitness Trainer
How long have you been at CrossFit Access? 9 months
Why did you start CrossFit? I started CrossFit to help recover from surgery and get the strength back in my leg, to get fitter and meet new people.
What do you love about CrossFit Access? I love the family vibe, everyone is so friendly, welcoming and helpful. The best box I’ve ever trained at.
Any advice for anyone just starting their CrossFit journey? Don’t ever tell yourself you can’t do something. There’s always a way to scale whatever it is you’re struggling with to build up to nailing that movement you never thought you’d be able to do. Keep on keeping on and train smart.
What do you enjoy doing outside of CrossFit? Spending time with the family, beach walks, drinking gin, going to the pub.
What is your favourite and least favourite movements or WODs? Cleans are my favourite at the moment and least favourite would be pull ups because I suck at them.
What your biggest achievement so far? Being able to run again after another acl recon.
What are your future goals? To master double unders and pull ups
Tell us something we don’t know about you. I was a gymnast for 10 years and I also coach tumbling.
Who’s your box buddy? I have many, Renelle, Ulanda, Lisa, Gemma. I’m a bit of a box wanderer.
