Gents we’ve all done it as some point… caught a glimpse of ourselves in the mirror or seen a photo where you haven’t been too impressed with what’s in front of you. This happened to me and it was the catalyst I needed to kick my arse into gear! For me it was a photo when I was on holiday in Thailand and I had my shirt off (pic above). When I saw the pic when I got home I said to myself that something had to change!
I’ve been where you guys are and I’ve walked the walk so I know exactly how you feel but more importantly I know exactly how to help you.
Here are my top 3 tips to get you on track:
1. EXERCISE (TRAINING) WOW… didn’t see that one coming right… It’s a no brainer though. My philosophy is that evolution takes tens of thousands of years just to make a small change. Well about 10,000 years ago we were still running around hunting our food not driving through a drive through sitting on our back sides. Since our bodies are still pretty much the same now as they were back then we need to replace the “running and hunting” to balance the energy we consume when we eat. Along comes EXERCISE! Lets not call it exercise, exercise is pointless as it has no purpose to work towards. Let’s refer to it as training! Now… back then hunting was a necessity so it was easy to do. You either hunted or you didn’t eat, simple. So we need to replace this with something that you know you’ll keep doing. That means finding something that’s fun, exciting and that keeps you wanting more. I couldn’t recommend CrossFit enough to replace the “hunter” in you. Each workout is different everyday, you get to play with all kinds of gear. Atlas stones, climbing ropes, barbells & kettlebells just to name a few. The best thing however would be the camaraderie you share with your fellow “hunters” once the workout is finished. I can only imagine that this must be so similar to the elation our ancestors felt when they achieved a big kill on a hunting excursion. Staying enthused and motivated is the easiest way to keep training and more importantly WANTING to keep training. 2. CUT OUT SUGAR & REDUCE ALCOHOL Oh DANG yes it’s true fellas. It’s pretty safe to say that if you have a keg instead of a six pack then there ain’t no way you’re going to get rid of that gut until you reduce your alcohol intake. If you want the best results and to achieve that body fast I strongly suggest eliminating alcohol from your diet completely until you get to your ideal composition. The thing with alcohol is that as soon as it’s consumed your body goes into “storage” mode and pretty much anything else that’s consumed while alcohol is in your system will go straight to your gut. No to mention most alcohol is high in sugar too which spikes your insulin levels and ultimately magnifies fat storage. Now we all have those mates that drink every weekend and eat what they like and stay shredded so you say, “why doesn’t alcohol affect them?” My answer, lucky for them and who cares, this article is written for you and if you’re still reading, I’m guessing you have some tummy fat you would like to get rid of, which I’m assuming alcohol is playing a part of. Keep reading! 3. CONSISTENCEY & WORK Its easy, if you do point one, Training & point two, cut out sugar & alcohol THEN do these things consistently I can guarantee you will see results. Why, because that’s all I did and continue to do and I’ve seen this process transform lives time and time again. The catch is you have to be willing to put in the work, you would have heard that saying “If you want it, work for it” Well it’s true! You put in the time you’ll get the rewards, simple. NOW… that doesn’t mean go and spend hours in the gym… I don’t believe in that. In fact I’m opposed to that, I believe the less time you can spend in the gym to get the results you’re after the better. There is so much more to life than being at the gym. Workout smarter not harder, CrossFit programming keeps workouts short and fun that maximise your results in the shortest time frame. Anyone can achieve their training goals with no more than an hour in the gym. Well there they are my top 3 tips to getting rid of that belly fat.
