Is CrossFit Good for Beginners? What Your First Week at CrossFit Access Looks Like

"I need to get fit before I try CrossFit." It's the most common thing we hear, and it's backwards. CrossFit is how you get fit, and at CrossFit Access, every beginner starts one-on-one, not thrown into a class.

Is CrossFit actually suitable for beginners?

Yes. Every workout can be scaled to the person doing it. Weights, movements and the number of reps all change to suit your fitness, your experience and any injuries. A beginner and an experienced athlete can do the same workout side by side, and both leave having worked hard at their own level.

What makes it safe is coaching. Every class at CrossFit Access is coached, so someone is watching your technique, adjusting your weights and making sure you're moving well before you move heavy.

Your first step: a free one-on-one intro

You won't walk into a busy class on day one. Your first visit is a free one-on-one session with one of our coaches. They'll:

No pressure and no experience needed. You just have to turn up.

Next: OnRamp, the foundations

If you want to keep going, OnRamp is the next step. It's two one-on-one sessions ($100) that cover the nine fundamental movements of CrossFit, plus an introduction to the snatch and the clean and jerk. By the end, you'll know the movements used in class and feel confident walking in.

Then: coached group classes

Once you've done OnRamp, you join our group classes. They run weekdays from 5am to 7:30pm, Saturdays from 6 to 9am, so there's a time that fits around work and family.

What our members say

We have 222 Google reviews at 5.0 stars, and the theme that comes up again and again is community. That's what we're about: more than a gym, more like a family. You'll learn people's names, they'll learn yours, and you'll be cheered through the last rep.

Already trained before?

If you've done CrossFit, F45, Fitstop or barbell training before, skip the intro and try a free three-day pass instead.
